My most recent connection is the (M)other Art Collective.

(M)other brings together artist-parents based in the North West to develop ways of working that accommodate family life. (M)other seeks out and creates opportunities to exhibit, collaborate and engage the public in artmaking. (M)other artists have varied practices incorporating different interests and uses of media. (M)other seeks to reduce barriers to creating and accessing art for all, in particular artist-parents, families, children and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

We have already had held our inaugural group exhibition in The Great Northern Warehouse, Deansgate, Manchester. We are very soon about to embark on our first group artists retreat at ‘Wild Rumpus’ in Cheshire. Wish us luck. I may bring a slightly different perspective as an older mother and a mid/later career artist but hopefully a valid one. https://www.instagram.com/m.otherartcollective/

Proud to be represented by MAC

Modern Art Chester is a platform and gallery space for local, UK and international artists. It is an online space providing modern and contemporary art to the residents of Cheshire and beyond; to enjoy in their homes for years to come. It is a place to help, advise and curate art from artists who are emerging, professional and most of all exceptional in their media.

Yes, you might think it’s just another website, but we are a group of positive thinking proactive artists wanting to bring a change to the cultural landscape we occupy by participating in actual real life exhibitions in Chester. We are all ages, from all backgrounds and we still manage to have fun along the way. https://www.modernartchester.com/

Why we exhibit together as CHART

Chart is a small, British based collective of visual artists interested in this evolutionary milestone and the ability of art to communicate on an intuitive and intellectual level.

The artists have a particular interest in the links between all the arts and sciences, and in structure, time, words, numbers and symbols. They share a deep sense of the connectivity of human experience, our relationship with nature and the importance of spirituality. References to all these elements are evident in their work.

The name chart was chosen for its association with maps, grids and journeys. It reflects a desire to explore the concepts outlined above and discover meaning and structure in life through art.
The identity of the group is characterised by its multi-disciplinary make-up including sculptor, painter, printmaker, ceramist, photographer and conceptual/installation artists underlining the way art is a universal means of communication whatever the chosen media or ‘language’.

Our Logo if you like may look like a hashtag but our reasons for choosing it are as follows:

A small piece of ochre pigment incised with a grid of scratched marks dating back more than 70,000 years was found recently in a cave in South Africa. It is the earliest evidence yet of the human capacity for symbolic art. The ability to think on an abstract level seems to be uniquely human. This simple step opens the door to art, language, mathematics, science and all forms of intellectual communication.
